Connecting Memory 2.0

Publisher Description

The Connecting Memory app taps into a rich collection of digital stories about the iconic places and fascinating people of Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula,Victoria, Australia. Local voices tell local stories through film, spoken word, song, images and text. Stories are clustered around the footprint of the M~M Contemporary Songline, a path which extends from the You Yangs Regional Park mountain range in the north to beautiful Barwon Heads, at the mouth of the Barwon River in the south, via the Bellarine and Queenscliff. The app is a useful companion to M~M: Geelong's 24-hour Extreme Arts Walk - an 80km journey in 12 stages that traces the Contemporary Songline. The M~M(pronounced M to M ) walk occurs biennially in May and is open to all. Travellers on this route can unearth content by traversing the land and Walking Circles based on ancient labyrinth designs to unlock stories as they pass through grasslands, industrial nightscapes, the city centre, rural landscapes and beaches across the twelve wards of our municipality: Austin, Buckley, Beangala, Brownbill, Kardinia, Corio, Coryule, Deakin, Kildare, Windermere, Cowie, Greater Geelong and Cheetham, as well as historic Borough of Queenscliffe. Highlights of the route include Serendip wildlife sanctuary, Bob McGovern Path, Hovells Creek, Limeburners Lagoon, North Geelong and North Shore, Corio Bay, Western Bay walk, Geelong Waterfront, Steampacket Gardens, Bellarine Rail Trail, Swan Bay, Point Lonsdale, Ocean Grove Beach, and Barwon Heads. Connect and reflect as you take time to walk this land. Connecting Memory and M~M acknowledge Wadawurrung Traditional Owners of this land and all Aboriginal and Torres Islander People who are part of the Greater Geelong community today. Note: This app contains a feature to alert you about nearby stories even while closed. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. This feature can be disabled in the app's settings, and the app will stop searching if it hasn't been launched for 60 minutes.

Requires iOS 8.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
